Avon Pier + RV Resort

Avon Pier + RV Resort is an oceanfront RV park on Hatteras Island, built around the historic Avon Fishing Pier. Every site is full hookup, and the resort is aimed squarely at travellers rather than seasonal residents, although long term resident sites are also sold. Rig sizes are capped by site category, so the length limit that applies to you depends on which site you book.

What the official site publishes

  • All RV sites include water, sewer and 20, 30 and 50 amp electric service, gravel pads, back-in access, room for slide outs and a picnic table.
  • Three published site categories: Home Away From Home for rigs up to 55 feet (sites 1-7, 24, 25 and 26), Just Right for rigs up to 44 feet (sites 8, 10-14, 16, 18, 20 and 23) and Van Life for vans, sprinters and Class C rigs under 29 feet (sites 9, 15, 17, 21 and 22).
  • Those published site lists add up to 25 numbered sites.
  • Direct beach access, on-site fishing pier, seasonal pool with an oceanfront deck, 24/7 bath house, Kavon Park green space and Pangea Tavern on the property.
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the resort.
  • No general store, no laundry facilities and no cable TV.
  • Self check-in after 2pm, check-out by noon, quiet hours 11pm to 8am.
  • Bonfires are not allowed in the resort, but are permitted on the beach with an NPS permit.

Rates

The resort does not publish a nightly rate table on its website. Its own Campspot reservation system quoted 115 to 160 dollars a night for August 2026 dates when this profile was verified, with the largest sites at the top of that range. The site does publish a long term resident programme at 7,500 dollars, advertised as under 21 dollars a day. Check the booking system for a current quote.

Pets

Pets are welcome for a published fee of 3 dollars per night per animal, with a maximum of four. They must be leashed at all times, cannot be left unattended, and are not allowed in any buildings, in the bath house or at the pool. That is a restrictions-apply policy rather than an unconditional yes.
