What’s nearby

Kitty Hawk is the first real beach town you hit after crossing the Wright Memorial Bridge on US-158. From the park you’re a short drive to the Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kill Devil Hills, Jockey’s Ridge State Park in Nags Head (home to the tallest natural sand dune on the East Coast), and the pedestrian-friendly Duck village to the north. Grocery, hardware, and RV supplies are all available within a few miles along the Croatan Highway (US-158) corridor.

Driving the beach

OBX beaches north of Oregon Inlet require 4-wheel drive for off-road access. If your tow vehicle isn’t 4×4-capable, our partner Beach4x4.com rents Jeeps and 4×4 SUVs delivered locally.
